BBB is alerting consumers of Las Vegas based company, Tienda El Salvador, who, according to a pattern of complaints, charges consumers hundreds of dollars for delivery services to Latin America that fail to arrive, or arrive months behind schedule.
Las Vegas resident Juan Sanchez, who paid $200 to send his package to San Salvador states: “We sent a box to our family in January and it still has not arrived. Every time we talk to the company, they tell us a different story like the package has been delivered or that it’s still in customs. They still have not provided me with a tracking number and I don’t think anyone knows where my package is.”
Most consumers complain of difficulty when trying to get a tracking or confirmation number for their deliveries. Some consumers state the company blames the El Salvador customs for delivery failure.
Since April, BBB has received 6 complaints against the company which holds an F rating for failing to respond to complaints. In one instance, a consumer notified BBB that the complaint had been resolved.
BBB offers these consumer tips when using a shipping service:
- Request a receipt with the expected delivery date.
- Pay with a credit card so you have recourse in case of fraud.
- Consider paying the extra fee to insure the items being shipped.
- If you encounter problems, file a complaint at www.bbb.org and the Postal Inspector, 877-876-2455.
